GremNOS 0.2c ============ GremNOS 0.2c fixes a bug in the NNTP client of all known versions of GremNOS (known to me, that is); the bug causes GremNOS to abort with the error message "printf : floating point formats not linked", which can (and does) hang the machine, especially when running under Win9x. The bug is a simple one to do with logging NNTP errors (e.g. 430 article unavailable); it occurs when the message-id of the message which caused the error contains "%" followed by any of the letters e,E,f,g or G. This bug is *NOT* present in Demon KA9Q versions 2.16 and above; since GremNOS was based on Demon's 2.16d, its presence is somewhat surprising. (It seems to have been re-introduced when some externally-contributed code, obviously derived from an earlier version of KA9Q, was included in the GremNOS NNTP client with insufficient checking of the differences from 2.16.) I've only compiled the "Lite" build so far, but can easily provide "Large" and "TW-Lite" (TextWin Lite) versions; if anyone wants one of the others, let me know. The "Lite" executable is available in lite_02c.zip; the changed source files are available in gnos02cs.zip. Simon Turner 28 August 2001
